Conveniently located near Hatteras
Village, the Sea Gull Motel is the perfect oceanfront headquarters
for fishing, beach activities, watersports, or just exploring
the islands. Within a mile are fully-equipped marinas with
access to the the legendary Gulf Stream and its stock of majestic
Blue Marlin, sailfish, tuna, dolphin, and many other trophy
fish. Amateurs and professionals alike will find many angling
opportunies whether in the surf, off the pier or on a charter
boat.
There are also opportunties to explore
the history and lore of the Outer Banks. From the 16th century
explorations of Sir Walter Raleigh to the predations of German
U-boats during WWII, Cape Hatteras has seen much history just
offshore, and sometimes on shore. Known to mariners around the
world as the "Graveyard of the Atlantic", the treacherous waters
required the building of the world's tallest brick beacon. The
Cape Hatteras lighthouse with it's distinctive spiral stripes
is one of the country's best known landmarks.
Not all of the attractions are man made.
The nearby Gulf Stream supports sub-tropical vegetation, gives
the Outer Banks more frost-free days than any coastal region
north of Florida and brings more kinds of fish than any fishing
center, north or south.
Whatever your interest in the varied
Outer Banks might be, we look forward to making your stay a
pleasant one at the Sea Gull Motel!
